Most creams on the market are formulated with traditional emulsifiers that emulsify oil and water together in order to create that cream texture. Problem is, the emulsification process doesn't just end at the cream but can also emulsify the precious oils of the skin barrier, causing increased skin sensitization and skin barrier disruption over time. Our cream is what’s considered a lamellar emulsion, using ingredients like Glyceryl Behenate, Behenyl Alcohol and Lecithin instead to create a lamellar cream that mimics the structure of the skin barrier instead of disrupting it. These special lamellar emulsifying ingredients stimulate hydration on damaged skin by increasing the thickness, lipid content and lamination of the stratum corneum. In fact, 95% of volunteers claimed to have hydrated, nourished and smoothed skin after a single application of these ingredients in a skincare preparation. In other words, these specific ingredients are excellent for restoring a compromised, “delipidized” skin barrier.
The addition of Resveratrol from Japanese Knotweed offers more powerful antioxidant protection than vitamin C and vitamin E can provide, while also enhancing tissue hydration, promoting skin cell renewal and regulating keratinocyte turnover (important for those with acne-prone skin types). Resveratrol has been shown to exhibit antibacterial properties, specifically against P. acnes. It stimulates SIRT1 expression, giving it powerful anti-aging properties. Resveratrol has also been shown to reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines like COX2 and PGE2, helping to reduce skin irritations and enhance wound healing.
Caprooyl Tetrapeptide-3 is a biomimetic lipopeptide that stimulates the production of key components of the dermo-epidermal junction (DEJ) to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone and enhance skin radiance. Major components of the DEJ include laminin-5, collagen VII and fibronectin.
